Robert Winkler, 87, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. He was born on September 26, 1931, in St. Louis, MO to Clyde P. and Josephine H. (Thole) Winkler.

In 1949, Bob graduated from the Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis. On May 28, 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on May 27, 1957. However, Bob continued his service to his country with the U.S. Army Reserves for 20 years, achieving the rank of Major. On May 28, 1955, he married Barbara Boeger in St. Louis, MO.

Bob graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, earning a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. While at Washington University, he played fullback for the varsity football team. Bob later returned to school and in 1977 earned an MBA from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. He also earned an Associate Degree from NWTC in Supervisory Management.

For many years, Bob was employed with the Fru-Con Construction Company, working at Proctor and Gamble in Green Bay, and retiring in 1997.

He was an active member of St. Agnes Parish, where he served as an usher for many years. Bob was also a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a life member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, and a member of the Beta Theta Pi social fraternity. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, bowling, going to the casino, following the Packers and making his football pool picks, and attending learning in retirement classes.

Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Suzanne Winkler; his daughter, Catherine Winkler; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter – grandson Kyle Winkler, his wife, Stephanie, and their daughter Kole, and granddaughter Kellsie Winkler; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Nancy Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his sister, Joann Zambo; and brother-in-law, Bob Zambo.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all of those who have been Bob's great friends and looked after and taken care of him in so many ways.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., followed by a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on December 18 with Rev.
