Kathleen "Katie" E. Pearson, 89, Green Bay, formerly of Wells, MI, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born July 1, 1926 in Escanaba, Mich. to Patrick F. and Mary Ellen (Maguire) Mullin. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1944 and continued on to the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She graduated in 1947 with a degree in Nursing. Katie studied at the University of Chicago for her post graduate work. On February 7, 1948 she married Gunnar Pearson at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1995.
Katie was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Harnischfeger Industries, Pinecrest Medical Facility, and Mead Paper Company from where she retired. In addition to doing private duty nursing, she also taught nursing courses at various places including, St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, Bay de Noc Community College and The Red Cross.
Katie had been a long time member at St. Anthony Parish in Wells, Mich. prior to moving to Green Bay in 2008. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish. She volunteered with the Literacy Council. Katie enjoyed to travel and had been to Sweden, Rome and travelled to Ireland seven times. She loved to be part of any celebration. She was a true friend to many. Mostly, she loved being with her family.
Katie is survived by her four children, Robert (Kathy) Pearson, Escanaba; Susan Sinclair, Green Bay; Patrick Pearson, Green Bay; Michael Pearson, Escanaba; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Elizabeth, Matthew, Meghan, Tyler, Michael, Kevin, Brian, Alex; 7 great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Grace, Mary Kate, Jacob, Bryson, Dayton, Ella; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gunnar; sister, Mary Ellen Cunningham; four brothers, Patrick, John, Hubert and Vincent Mullin.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home, 118 S. 12th St., Escanaba, MI from 9:30 to 11 a.m. (EST) Thursday, March 10. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. (EST) Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 6596 N. 3rd St., Wells, MI with the Rev. Richard Courier officiating.
