Herbert "Herb" Seeman, 91, Green Bay, died peacefully, two days shy of his 92nd birthday, on Friday, November 9, 2018. He was born on November 11, 1926, in Townsend to David and Ida (Koepsell) Seeman.

Herb worked on the family farm which instilled in him a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. In his youth, he worked in a logging camp. Herb proudly worked for 39 years at Fort Howard Paper Company as a papermaker, gladly retiring at the age of 59. On October 16, 1948, he married Shirley Caldie at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles. For over 20 years Herb and Shirley travelled to all 50 states and to Europe, making many friends along the way.

He loved going up north, fishing and sharing this hobby with his family, hunting, and enjoying many stories around the campfire. Herb was a true gentleman, who lived his life with great dignity. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Herb was a member of Nativity of Our Lord parish, the Green Bay Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, and Fort Howard Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Michael and Patti Seeman, Sue and Ronald Zima, Julie and Terry Vertz, Daniel Seeman and his special friend, Sharon Miller, Lori and Rick Counihan, Beth and Rob Gering; 12 grandchildren, Erin (Zac) Eckberg, Tony Zima, Cassie (Tyler) Churchill, Chris (Billi) Vertz, Josh (Leah) Vertz, Matt (Jayme) Vertz, Eric Seeman (Justina Willis), Katie Seeman (Andrew Kaminski), Kelly (Alex) Steavpack, Kristin Counihan (fiancé, Derek Apps), Nick Gering, Madison Gering (Alex Hauser); 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister-in-law, Elsie Caldie; a sister-in-law and dear friends, Virginia Rae (Vincent) Nicklas – thank you for your years of friendship, especially the last eight years since Shirley's passing; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 62 years, Shirley; an infant grandson, Jacob Counihan; sister, Hattie (Ed) Williams; and brother, Frank (Winnifred) Seeman.

Friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the church. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
