UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION

Craig Scott Morton, 60, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, with dignity and grace, after a courageous 8-year battle with early onset Alzheimer's type dementia. He was born October 7, 1959, in Berkeley, California to Robert and Barbara (Ravn) Morton.

Craig's family relocated to Costa Mesa, California where he spent the majority of his years growing up. Craig was a member of the Boy Scouts of America from 1967-1977. During that time, he was elected into the Order of the Arrow where he attained Brotherhood status. He had a passion for baseball, playing from when he was little all through high school. Craig graduated from Estancia High School in 1977. While there, he played baritone in concert band and was the drum major for the marching band. In 1977, Craig led that marching band down Pasadena Boulevard in the Rose Parade (Eagles March). Craig led that same band in many marching band competitions and parades and he himself participated in many drum major competitions. He could be seen many times practicing down his street.

Craig met the love of his life, Jody Klein, in high school and they were married on June 15, 1985. In 1994 Craig and Jody moved to Milwaukee, WI with their 2 young children, Kimberly and Joseph, to be near Jody's parents. Their youngest son, Travis, was born a year later. Craig worked in HVAC most of his life and landed a position with the Gustave A. Larson Company in the Milwaukee area until he was transferred to Green Bay in 1997. Craig continued to work for the Larson Company until 2015, when he was no longer able to do so. He loved his job, coworkers and customers, which he always talked about with high regards. In 2012, Craig began having focusing and memory problems, eventually being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's, but continued to work and enjoy life while he could.

Craig's love for music was intense and very broad. He knew lyrics to every song he heard and shared his love for music with his children. He loved almost any group/song and was always caught playing air guitar, dancing alone or with his wife wherever the music was playing, and attending many concerts. Craig LOVED Elton John. He collected anything and everything Elton John. He kept a notebook from high school in which he hand wrote the lyrics to Elton John songs! "Your Song" was his song to his then high school sweetheart, Jody. Craig was a Cowboys fan (there was once a QB for the Cowboys named Craig Morton), but also cheered on the Packers. Craig was also a golfer, a member of the Howard YMCA, raised money for the Alzheimer's Association, helped coordinate CARE Cafe, A Group for Adults on the Autism Spectrum for his son Joe, and was a member of the Brown County Dementia Friendly Community Coalition along with his wife.

Craig had a passion for woodworking which led to many friendships along the way. Craig made furniture for his home and cutting boards which he sold at craft fairs. Craig also had a passion for cars (race cars, muscle cars, classic cars, new cars, it didn't matter), attending many car shows and collecting die cast cars. Craig had a laugh like no other, was always joking around and had an infectious smile. He cared deeply for his family who meant the world to him. Friendships came easy and were long lasting. It seemed as though Craig knew everyone, and everyone knew Craig. We couldn't go anywhere without Craig running into someone he knew. Craig will be truly missed by his family and friends, but most of all by his wife, his friend, his soulmate, Jody. Fly like an eagle, Bubba, and watch over me until we meet again. Craig is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jody; his daughter, Kimberly "Skimbie" Morton and her fiancé, Ross Bushner; his son Joseph, "JoeJoe" Morton; his son, Travis "Travbie" Morton and Travis' girlfriend, and Craig's bonus daughter, Lexi Collins. He is further survived by his stepmother, Diane Morton, IL; brother, Steve (Lori) Morton, NC; stepbrother, Glenn (Pierce Gould) DeSandre, CA; stepsister, Christine DeSandre, CA; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Greg) Berndt; brother-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Holston; brother-in-law, Jeff Holston, FL; niece, Andrea (Tim) Riebe; nephew, Arick (Rachael Estes) Morton, NC; three great nieces, Copely Morton, Allison Riebe, Madison Riebe; two great nephews, Lochlan Morton, Jordan Riebe; one uncle, Stew (Stella) Morton, MN; cousins, Susan (Keith) Morgan and Paul (Jenn) Morton, all of OR. Craig is also survived by many lifelong friends from high school all over the United States!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Barbara (Ravn) Morton; and Jody's parents, Richard and Shirley (Sweet) Klein.

Visitation will be at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18; with the Memorial Service and Sharing of Memories at 1:30; followed by graveside prayers at Riverside Cemetery in Little Suamico. Family is requiring wearing of masks by all in attendance. If you don't have one, they will be provided. Craig's family extends a special thank you to his palliative doctor and friend, Dr. Amy James, to his neurologist and friend, Dr. Melissa Dercks and to Charlotte Gillis of Blaney Funeral Home for their compassion, love and support to Craig and our family. We would also like to thank the entire 4th floor team of nurses and staff at Bellin Hospital, the ADRC, Curative Connections, the Brown County Dementia Friendly Community Coalition and the Alzheimer's Association Greater Wisconsin Chapter Green Bay for their ongoing support, love and guidance.
