James "Jim" T. Rogers, 53, firstborn child of Marvin and Betty Rogers, entered life on this earth on August 4, 1963 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After a heroic fight with cancer, Jim was released from life Saturday, June 10, 2017. Jim grew up on Green Bay's west side and attended Jefferson, Fort Howard, Franklin, and graduated from West High School in 1981. Upon graduation, he attended NWTC and graduated as an operating room tech, but chose a life in construction. Jim worked various jobs, owned his own business, and he finished his career at Bayland Buildings Inc.

Jim grew up in St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he was a member of Boy Scouts Troup #2 and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Jim enjoyed his time sailing, collecting firearms, piloting, and being a passionate armchair quarterback. He loved football and at an early age, he played with the St. Patrick Catholic neighborhood team. He continued to play through his school years at Franklin and West High School. Jim later went on to coach football at St. Patrick's and also at Bay Port High School. He will be remembered fondly by the many young men that he coached and mentored. Jim was happy when he obtained his pilot's license and very much enjoyed flying. He crewed for many years on sailboat races around the Great Lakes and was especially proud of his 28 consecutive years competing in the Chicago to Mackinac Race with friends.

On March 20, 1992, he married Lisa Destiche and she became stepmom to Eric. Two years later, they became parents to Jacob, while maintaining a relationship with Eric's mom, Sue Miller Rogers.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa; two sons, Eric (Eden), and Jacob; his mother, Betty Rogers; brother, Kevin (Julie); two sisters, Jill (Wayne) Diedrich and Jenny (Bobby) Whitefield; five nephews, Wesley and Andrew Rogers, Stewart and Tyler Droeger, Bryce Whitefield; one niece, Rachael Whitefield. He is further survived by Lisa's family, Deby (Ron) Dehn, Jon (Kathy) Destiche, Dale (late wife Lori) Destiche, Todd (Debbie) Destiche, Dean (Denise) Destiche; 18 nieces and nephews; and many loved ones near and far who played a role in Jim's life.

Jim will join his father, Marv; his grandparents; a dear friend, Butch Williquette; and many loved ones who have crossed over the bridge.

Jim's family extends their gratitude to Bayland and all their employees for their caring help and compassion through his journey, and also to Unity Hospice for their wonderful care during this time.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jim's name.
