Michael L. Hermes, 44, Suamico, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in Los Angeles. He was born April 11, 1968, in Green Bay, to Mike and Connie (Klaybor) Hermes. Michael graduated from Premontre High School in 1985. He attended Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1992. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Demeny in Green Bay in 1992. He started his law career in Las Vegas in 1992 and returned to Green Bay in 1997 where he has practiced since. In 2009, he started Hermes Law, LTD.

Michael served as past Chairperson of the St. Vincent Hospital Institutional Review Board, sat on the Brown County Planning Commission Board of Directors, and served on the Village of Suamico Planning Commission. He survived Hodgkin's Disease in 1993 and this year founded Connect Inc., a Cancer Concierge to help others affected by cancer. As an attorney he was particularly proud of his team's ongoing work on the Fox River clean-up case.

He loved fishing, watching Packers and Badgers games, playing hockey, cooking, traveling, and enjoying good food and wine; he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Michael always put his family first. He was amazingly optimistic and tenacious in his fight against cancer. He was smart, generous, kind, thoughtful and funny.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Demeny; his children, Sam, Sydney and Sophie; his parents, Mike and Connie Hermes; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Hermes; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher (Katja) Hermes; brother-in-law, Jason (Susy) Demeny; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Tom) Hickey; sister-in-law, Jessica (Dan) Puhrmann; special uncle, Dick Klaybor; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Helen Klaybor; his paternal grandfather, Leo Hermes; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Karen Demeny.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 20. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rt. Rev. Gary J.
