Wayne Ted "Sonny" "Red" Price, 90, Suamico, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born October 7, 1933, in Green Bay to Wayne C. and Marion (Gunn) Price.
Wayne enlisted at the age of 17 into the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War and was a Seabee. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Wayne served for almost four years. He was a member of the American Legion and very proud of attending the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2015. Wayne was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years and served on the buildings and grounds committee.
Wayne valued time with family above all else. He met Ethel Freimuth and the two married on March 2, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they had five children and celebrated 52 years of marriage. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking day trips to Door County in the fall to watch the colors and eat cherry donuts. Wayne loved to camp, golf, and watch NASCAR. He had a legacy of owning many different types of cars and was an avid Packer fan. Wayne worked as a grader operator for the City of Green Bay until he retired in 1994 and started making many friends while golfing and mall walking.
He is survived by his children, Michael Price, Kenneth Price, Susan MacWilliams, Julie (Kyle) Thomas, William "Bill" (Ann) Price; grandchildren, Jessica (Roy) Yates, Aaron Thomas, Emilie Price, Brett (Meagan) Price, Alyssa (Ben Weyers) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Roy, Ross, Nilo, Esona; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; parents, Wayne and Marion; grandson, Nicholas Price; siblings, David, Margaret, Donna.
Friends and family will gather at First Presbyterian Church, 200 S Ashland Ave., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8; Service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
Wayne's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, Mike and Ken, his sons who took care of him for many years, and to Julie, Bill, and Ann for assisting him in his last days.
