Wayne J. Peterson Sr., 88, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born April 24, 1935, in Green Bay to Rueben and Rosella (Lannoye) Peterson.

Wayne was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of '53. He then went to work at the former Northern Paper Company (Now Georgia Pacific). On January 1, 1997 Wayne retired after 40 years of service. On June 7, 1958, Wayne married Sarah A. Peters at St. Matthew Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2018. In his senior years, Wayne took up golfing. He had never swung a club before the age of 62, but was immediately hooked, wanting to go every day he could. He played well into his 80's.

Wayne had an incredible love for baseball. He coached for over 30 years in both baseball and softball. Wayne also served as Commissioner of the Westside Lions Little League for many of those years. He took great pride in having a well-organized, competitive league that was affordable so that every kid could play. More than anything, being at his children and grandchildren's sporting events brought him joy. He cherished the times he got to spend watching them play, and he was their biggest fan.

He is survived by his children, Craig (Debbie) Peterson, Vern (Wendy) Peterson, Eric (Chris) Peterson, Amy (Chad Peters) Loch; daughter-in-law, Debbie Christiano; grandchildren, Caleb (Trisha) Peterson, Nicole (Josh) Holtermann, Lesley Peterson, Craig (Sara) Peterson Jr., Tiffany (Adam) Wescott, Zachary (Kristen) Peterson, Jesse Allen, Katie (Jake) Prucha, Lindsay (Jeremy) Burhop, Colton (fiancée, Ashley Mikles) Peterson, Logan (fiancée, Carleigh Wenzel) Peterson, Jessica (Mark) Larson, Tom Gannon, Alyxandria (Hunter) Schmidt, Miranda Peterson, Austin Loch, Owen Loch; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Robert) Cushman as well as other relatives, and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sarah; son, Wayne, Jr; as well as his parents.

Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5; The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
