Walter "Wally" Jacob Cleereman Jr., 90, Green Bay, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024. He was born December 27, 1933, in Green Bay to Walter J. Sr. and Marie C. (Baeb) Cleereman.
Walter graduated from West High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in the Philippines and acted as a morse code interceptor. Wally was honorably discharged on September 8,1956. He married Janice Elsner on November 3, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Church in the Village of Howard, WI. Together they celebrated over 67 years of marriage. He worked for many years as a supervisor for Paper Converting Machine Company. Wally enjoyed woodworking and wood carving and was very skilled at both. He enjoyed singing in the Barbershop Chorus and quartet as well as singing in the St. John the Baptist choir. He even played polka cello in a Polka band in his youth. Wally enjoyed many years of camping, going to the cabin in Dunbar, picking blueberries and blackberries, junk picking, and trout fishing on the Peshtigo River. Wally and Jan enjoyed square dancing for many years, making a lot of good friends. For 20 years after retirement Wally and Jan would spend 3 months a year traveling south for the winter. They truly enjoyed that time and made friends from all over the United States. In their younger days they would travel to other countries and enjoyed sightseeing. Wally always said travel when you can because some day you will not be able to.
