Beloved mother and grandmother, Virginia "Ginny" L Pliner, 84, Green Bay, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Ginny was born on November 18, 1938, in Dekalb, IL to Earl and Mildred (Edwards) Pantton.

Ginny enjoyed a happy childhood, helping her parents in their apparel store before graduating from Neenah High School in 1956. During her high school years, she served as Honor Queen of Bethel 57 of Neenah. This inspired her to carry-on this tradition of Jobs Daughters with her two daughters and granddaughter.

She attended Carroll College and graduated in 1960 with a degree in education. It was while attending Carroll that she joined Chi Omega Sorority and met the love of her life, Terry H. Pliner. They were united in marriage on November 26, 1960, and were able to spend more than fifty-two wonderful years together.

Ginny spent much of her life teaching third grade students at various public schools in Green Bay. She took great pride in seeing students prosper and always enjoyed reconnecting with them post-retirement.

Ginny was an avid history buff and traveler, visiting several U.S. cities and landmarks during her retirement years. She also enjoyed being a poll worker and volunteer for Bellin Auxiliary for more than 40 years. She was an active member of both the Antiquarian Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her volunteer activities, Ginny regularly attended events with Sons of Norway and Neville Public Museum up until her passing.

Ginny greatest joy was spending time with Terry, their children and grandchildren at their home in Green Bay as well as their vacation home in Door County.

Ginny is survived by her three children Todd (Mary) Pliner, Green Bay; Shelley (Chris) Schumacher, Cedarburg; Lynne (J.B.) Van Hollen, Mason; seven grandchildren, Brian (Orlando), Joseph (Madison) and Erika (Gainesville) Pliner; Jordan (Philadelphia) and Joshua (Milwaukee) Schumacher; Byron and Maddy Van Hollen (St. Paul); and her cousin Shirley Karbowski (Florida).

Ginny is preceded in death by her loving husband, Terry Pliner and her parents.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave, on Monday, May 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service, also at Blaney Funeral Home, will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Laura Riemer officiating.
