Virginia A. "Virge" (DuChateau) Gruselle, 94, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023. She was born February 16, 1928, in Green Bay to Clifford and Eleanor (Kirkoff) Butterfield.
Virge graduated from Green Bay West High School. She eloped in Iowa City, Iowa on August 27, 1946 to Carlton "Cuddy" DuChateau. During the war, in her younger years she worked for the telephone company. She was very active in her children's lives as a Den Mother while her son was in scouts. She also aided in Girl Scouts. After her children were in school, she worked at Pranges. Later in her career, she worked at Rock Garden until she was in her 70s.
She and Cuddy enjoyed traveling, going for drives and going to their little blue cottage with the pink shutters that they built on Round Lake. She loved to play cards with her friends and enjoyed many Packer's games. It was always very evident that they truly were in love. Cuddy passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 1993 and this left a huge hole in her heart.
Virge continued to travel with her family to Florida and New York, after Cuddy passed. She also enjoyed time in Door County, the Memorial Day parade and the many shopping trips. There was always an adventure with Virge.
In 2000, she reconnected with her childhood friend, Ronald Gruselle and they were married shortly after. Together, they made many new adventures. She lovingly cared for Ron until he passed on December 20, 2017.
Virge always appreciated and enjoyed every call and visit made with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virge was fun and loved to have fun.
She is survived by her children, Victoria (Thomas) Brawner, Eric (fiancée, Robin Gille) DuChateau; grandchildren, Nathan Brawner, Nellie Novoselatz and her son, McCain Thomas, Nora (Jesse) Vieau and their children, Maybelline Primrose, Millicent Posy, Brawner Birch, Minerva Poppy; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Virge was preceded in death by her first husband, Cuddy; her second husband, Ron; her parents; and her brother, Clifford (Juanita) Butterfield.
