Vicki A. Mefford
1961-2024
With a spirit as vibrant as her personality, Vicki A. Mefford embarked on her final chapter on March 23, 2024, immersed in the knowledge of the love that surrounded her and the well wishes of those who knew her. At the age of 62, after a valiant three-year battle with colon cancer, a battle she fought with the same fiery passion and strong spirit she brought to every aspect of her life, Vicki was declared cancer-free, a testament to her incredible strength and determination. Unfortunately, just as she was beginning this new chapter, she passed during her recovery process.
Vicki's journey began in her birthplace of Green Bay, where she attended East High School and blossomed into the spunky, passionate soul we all cherished. Her early years as a Certified Nursing Assistant laid the foundation for a lifetime of caregiving, not just for patients, but anyone within her reach. Vicki was the quintessential 'neighborhood mom,' always ready with a warm meal, a box of food for those less fortunate, or a meticulously hand-crafted gift for a special occasion.
Her home was an epicenter of joy and festivity, from legendary Halloween parties with her brother to high-intensity Packer game gatherings. Vicki's love for crafts and animals, combined with her penchant for pranks, filled our lives with laughter and surprise, especially during the Halloween season. She taught us many things: from how to cook delicious dishes and care for all things potted and green, to ways to paint and decorate a house to make it a home. Most importantly, she taught us the joy of living fully, the importance of standing up against injustice and bullying, and the value of caring deeply for others.
Vicki was far from perfect, and she never pretended to be. She faced life's challenges with courage and never lost her sense of humor or her ability to love. Her life was a testament to the beauty of imperfection, the strength in vulnerability, and the profound impact of unconditional love and care.
Vicki was proceeded in death by her parents, Wayne Pinchart and Jeannie Schoedl; her brothers, Shad Schoedl and Rob Pinchart; her sister, Sherri Early; and the long-time love of her life Brian 'Big Boy' Walters.
She is survived by her children, Brittan (Elizabeth) Scott, Nicholas Walters, and Desiree Walters; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Parker, Phoenix, Emmett, Jayceon, and two beautiful twins (Desiree) who are soon to join the world and she was excited to meet (and her grandpups); brothers, Rick Schoedl, Tracy Pinchart; sister Kim (Russ) Winiecki; brother-in-law, David Early; nephew Christopher Early; dearly loved niece, Jennifer Schoedl; longtime friend, Sandy Blaskey; friend and helpful caretaker, AJ Beckley; and life-long close family friends, Nancy and Dennis Hays; all of whom will miss her more than words can convey but will cherish the memories of her unwavering spirit and the love she gave to all.
As we remember Vicki, we invite you to celebrate her life in a way that feels true to the joy and laughter she brought into the world. Please join us to honor Vicki's remarkable life at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 1; Funeral Service to follow at 4 p.m., where we will share stories, laughter, and perhaps a few pranks in her honor. Dress as you feel Vicki would want to see you: with joy, vibrancy, and maybe even a touch of Packers' Pride. To send condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com
In Vicki's memory, let's continue to love deeply, care fiercely, and laugh often. After all, that's how she lived her life, and it's the greatest tribute we can offer to a woman whose presence was a gift to us all.
