Verna Jakubenas, 78, Oconto Falls, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023. She was born April 17, 1945, in Green Bay to Elias and Lillian (Raleigh) Gillis.

Verna graduated from East High School, Class of 1963. After high school she worked for Sure Way and later for Red Owl. On June 19, 1965, she married Eugene Jakubenas. Together they started their family and Verna loved being a mother and housewife. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, if she wasn't sewing, she was in one of her gardens. She would can veggies and make jams. Everything was homemade, all the food and most of the clothes. When the children were older, she worked for American Medical Security. Later she went on to work with her daughter, Julie doing data entry for their business, Kwik Claim. Verna enjoyed camping, fishing, canning, bowling, and basketball. She loved to travel and visited Ireland four times and it was her favorite trip. Verna was charitable and always putting others before herself. She loved spending time with family most of all with her grandchildren.
