Thomas James Rosewicz passed away peacefully under the care of his family at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dan Mahler on Friday, December 15, 2023, surrounded by his family while they continued their annual cookie baking event. Tom was born on November 20, 1942, in Milwaukee to Eugene and Sylvia Rosewicz.
He lived his childhood and early adulthood in the Milwaukee area. He married his second-grade sweetheart, Carole Lynn Scheff on November 30, 1963, and began their family together. They had three children Brian, Craig, and Sue. Tom quietly took pride in his family. Tom spent his working years in sales, beginning as a route driver for ITT Continental Baking Company (Wonderbread), never missing a route while delivering bread even through the Milwaukee riots in the late 60s.
After moving to the Wausau area in 1977, he continued working for Hostess and then became a top salesman for Holiday Wholesale, the type of salesman that could "sell ice cubes to an Eskimo". After retirement, he and Carole loved spending time traveling together, they were fortunate to be able to travel from South Africa to Alaska, but spent most of their summers in Boulder Junction, WI and a few months each winter in Florida.
Due to Carole's declining health, Tom and Carole later moved to Green Bay to be closer to their daughter and her family who were instrumental in helping with her care and his as well. Tom had a passion for the outdoors that was passed along to his children and grandchildren. He taught us all how to cut a worm in half with just his fingernails, and to adjust the depth of a jig for catching walleyes. These lessons were learned way back during the camping days at Razorback Lake with his children and then years later taught to the grandchildren at the cottage. He taught us all how to play Sheepshead, make a good stiff cocktail, and to cook over a campfire.
Tom was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he lived his life enjoying time with them, always offering a sweet treat for them to enjoy during any visits. He also made friends wherever he went. Many nights were spent at the kitchen table shooting the breeze and cracking jokes with his good buddies and their wives. Always a party whenever they got together.
Tom is survived by his children, Brian (Jane) Rosewicz, Craig Rosewicz, and Sue (Dan) Mahler; grandchildren, Erin (Scott) Goelden, Sara Rosewicz, Andy (MacKenzie) Mahler, Jackie (Weston) Schelter, Alexandra Rosewicz; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Bryce, and Kayce Schelter, Emma Mahler, and Lewis Goelden; sister, Elaine Pfferkorn; bother James (Joan) Rosewicz; brother-in-law, Bob Barnes; brother-in-law James (Shirley) Scheff; sister-in-law, Paula (Richard) Heitzer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carole Lynn (Scheff) Rosewicz; parents, Eugene and Sylvia Rosewicz mother- and father-in-law James and Frances Scheff; sister Joyce Barnes; brother-in-law Glenn Pfferkorn; cousins and friends.
There will be no funeral service at this time. The immediate family will have a private burial in Boulder Junction. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life per Tom's request at a later date. Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. in Green Bay assisted the family with arrangements.
