Sister Annette Koss (formerly Sister Jacinta), age 85, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, joined her eternal community on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Sister Annette was born July 17,1939 in Green Bay, WI. daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Fencil) Koss. She joined the Sisters in 1954. Sister Annette professed her vows in 1957 and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 2015.
Sister Annette earned a Bachelor Degree with majors in education and theology at St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI.; a Masters Degree in Religious Education at Fordham University, New York; and a Masters in Education at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, WI. She served as a teacher at St. Matthew and St. John the Baptist, Green Bay, St. Isidore, Osman, St. Boniface, De Pere, St. Joan of Arc, Goodman. She was a Religious Formation Director at St. Paul, Combined Locks and in the northern area of Peshtigo, Coleman, Pound, Lena, and Klondike. She served as a Pastoral Associate at St. Patrick, Green Bay, St. Benedict, Suamico, Sacred Heart, Appleton, Holy Name, Kimberly, and Holy Spirit, Darboy/Kimberly. She also was a member of the Community Formation Team.
Sister Annette was a creative person and a strategic planner. She enjoyed horseback riding, biking, skiing, photography, water coloring, and making her own photo cards. Many people were recipients of her beautiful artwork. She was a life-long learner and had a zest for knowledge.
Survivors include the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross and Associates; long-time friend Sister Carol Haanen ANG, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Edward and Helen; sisters: Elayne Jourdan, Mary Selner, Kathleen (Jack) Voyles and Patricia Mastalir; brothers: Edward and Robert; brother-in-law Joe Mastalir.
Visitation for Sister Annette will be at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, on Friday, March 7, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. with Very Reverend David Beaudry officiating.
