Sandra "Sandy" Ann Schmieder, 81, New Franken, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024.  She was born January 22, 1943 in Dubuque, IA to Irvin V. and Thora S. (Aronson) Schmieder.

Sandy grew up in Lancaster, WI.  At a young age, she started diving.  Her love of diving took her to Washington DC and to the 1970 World's Fair in Japan where she had the opportunity to meet Whitney Houston.  Sandy earned her Bachelor's degree from San Fernando Valley State College. Sandy remained active in the swimming and diving community most of her life and coached many kids at the Downtown YMCA.

Sandy had two main loves in life: her cat, Katrina, and the Green Bay Packers.  Everyone knew she had a mind of her own.  She enjoyed visits from her family and friends and a good cup of coffee or a cold glass of Coke.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ceanne and Edwin Hustad; nephew, Tim Hustad; niece, Heidi and Robert Prange and their children, Jackson and Hannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Thora.
