Ruth E. Nemetz, 89, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was born October 9, 1934, in Little River, WI to Walter and Grace (Smith) Carriveau.

Ruth graduated from Lena High School, Class of 1952. She went on to graduate from Marinette Teachers College in 1954. She taught at Spruce State Grade School for a year. Ruth married Edward F. Nemetz on July 2, 1955 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Edward was in the Air Force, so they traveled and lived in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Illinois. In 1970 Edward retired from the Air Force and they moved back to Green Bay, WI.

Ruth enjoyed a variety of jobs through the years. Before the children were born, she worked at Castelberg's Jewelry Store in downtown Washington D.C. In Green Bay, she managed a card and gift shop for 6 ½ years and was a receptionist at a medical clinic for nine years. She also enjoyed babysitting. When Edward became ill, she was his caretaker. Ruth was a member of St. Jude Parish. Her faith was incredibly important to her; she and Edward had been very involved in church activities. Ruth maintained connections to her classmates in Lena and was responsible for organizing years of class reunions. She loved to decorate, send cards, collect angels, and celebrate holidays with her friends and family. Ruth's biggest joy was family and loved family gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Steve) Kosek, Sharon (John) Hupke, Steven (Christina) Nemetz; grandchildren, J.D. Nemetz, David (Brittany) Hupke, Alex (fiancée, Elizabeth Schmidt) Hupke, Stevie Jo (Lorenzo Beck) Nemetz; great-grandchildren, Khalani Beck, Wyatt Hupke, Elaina Hupke; siblings, Judy Dembroski, Kenneth Carriveau, Janet (Brad) Glime, Richard (Pam) Carriveau, Debra Watson; and many other relatives and friends.
