Ronald Frey, 81, Howard, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 3, 2023. He was born January 7, 1942, in Franklin, WI to Alfred and Elvira (Joers) Frey.
Ron graduated from Union Grove High School. He worked for many years at Graf's Beverages in Milwaukee. Ron and his family moved to Green Bay in 1975 where he worked at General Foods/Kraft/Phillip Morris as a Sales Representative until his retirement. Ron also worked part time at St John's Cemetery. He loved spending time at the cabin in Eagle River/Three Lakes. There he enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing things and above all else cutting wood! Ron was a family man, loving husband, incredibly patient and an amazing teacher. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Cub Scout Master as well as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 113 for 17 years. In addition, he founded and led the Fr. Brennelli Squires Youth Group for five years. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus where he helped start the very first KC Ice Fishing Outing. Some of his favorite past times included holding "Fish Frys", playing cards (Sheepshead, Poker, and Cribbage) with friends and family, going polka dancing with Linda, and working in his garden. Ron enjoyed taking many NWTC woodworking classes with friend, Lee Tilque and made countless woodworking projects over the years. Ron was considered a trusted friend by many and always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Dan (Amy), Dennis (Tish), Chris (Erin); grandchildren, Zach, Jackson, Caleb, Sarah, Elsie, Norah; siblings, Rose Holterman, Al (Lani) Frey Jr., Joanne Zaborski, Rich (Peggy) Frey; siblings-in-law, Pat Loppnow, Lorrene Hangen (Loppnow), Susan Loppnow, Rosie Loppnow.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elvira; sister, Pat (Ray) Sagan; siblings-in-law, Lloyd Holterman, Peter and Penny Loppnow, Barbara Loppnow, Herb Hangen, Richard Loppnow, Doug Loppnow, and Jim Zaborski.
Friends and family will gather at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (The entrance is directly across from BP gas station on Glendale Ave.), from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 12; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
