Roger Eugene Lawyer, 90, Green Bay, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025. He was born May 21, 1935, in Saginaw, MI to Maurice and Rose (King) Lawyer.

Roger graduated from West High School, Class of 1953. He went on to attend St. Norbert's College where he earned his bachelor's degree in English and then to UW - Stevens Point where he obtained his master's degree in education. Roger served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant through the ROTC. For 31 years he taught high school English; 28 years were spent at East High School and three years at Wabeno High School. Roger was the advisor of the student newspaper for over 14 years. His proudest achievement during his time teaching was being the director of over 50 school plays at East High. It was obvious to anyone who knew Roger that his passions were theater and books. Roger's personal library amassed well over 26,000 diverse books and publications.

He performed in and directed countless plays and served on the Board of Directors at Green Bay Community Theater, Ashwaubenon Little Theater and Harlequin Players beginning in 1958 and continuing for over 5 decades. Over the years he was a longtime cast member of various other acting troupes, including Evergreen Productions, The Heritage Players, which highlighted Northeastern Wisconsin History and The Skylite Players. Roger's witty sense of humor, with a slight dramatic flair, could be seen in every scene he entered, both on and off the stage. He is memorialized on the Green Bay Community Theater's Wall of Fame and is very proud to have written over 200 skits for The Skylite Players troupe which largely traveled around to senior centers for 25 years.

Beyond the stage, he was a kind and generous man who supported well over 50 different charities and organizations throughout his life. Even at the age of 90 he still sponsored three children through Children's International; he always held a special place in his heart for children's charities. Roger dedicated time to the church as an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Knights of Columbus. As a well-read scholar he was always a proactive supporter of the arts and coached those with budding talent. His wisdom was never overshared but was full of kindness and always given with a smile and a sparkle in his eyes. Roger's gratitude was endless, and his sincerity never doubted. Even though Roger has taken his final bow on the stage of life, family and friends know he has moved on to a heavenly stage on which to perform.

He is survived by his brother, Dale (Sharon) Lawyer; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Rose; brother, Dennis (Rosalie) Lawyer; niece, Barbara Lawyer.

Friends and family will gather at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 9:30am to 10:30am on Saturday, October 11; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30am. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com

A special thank you to the staff of Brookview Meadows whom he loved and who became like family to him. He said many times how grateful he was to live there because he was well taken care of and you can bet he shared his wit and humor with all of the great caregivers.
