Roberta Marguerite (née Krempin) Roloff slept peacefully into the waiting arms of her loving Lord on October 21, 2026.
Roberta was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, to the Rev. Arthur Krempin, a Lutheran pastor, and Clara Krempin, and spent her formative years in Winnipeg, where she was a bright, meticulous student who loved to learn.
After a sudden illness claimed the life of her father, leaving her mother a widow with four young children, Roberta and her siblings didn't have many material things but nonetheless felt rich because of the love they shared. Roberta's imagination was boundless and she always believed she would have a great life, even in spite of the family's humble circumstances. She loved planning tea parties for her sisters, attempting to keep her brother in line, and doting on her baby sister Gloria (Janice).
Always very well regarded and respected by her peers, she was elected "Miss Luther League" and was always surrounded by many friends and would-be suitors.
Roberta's exceptional musical talents were recognized at a young age, leading her to study vocal performance at MacPhail Institute for the Arts in Minneapolis. During her time studying there, while visiting family in Wisconsin she met Robert Roloff on a blind date and the two married, beginning a life together filled with adventures, travel and mutual respect for each other's interests and hobbies. (Hers the arts, his outdoor sports.)
Roberta's unwavering Christian faith-the foundation for which was established at home by her parents and grandparents and solidified during her confirmation years-was central to her entire life. From practicing her own daily devotions to generously supporting missions and ministry of First English Lutheran Church, she poured her love for Jesus and her passion for life into her philanthropic pursuits. One of her most proud achievements was the creation of the Rev. Arthur Krempin School of Music & Art in her father's memory at First English, introducing underserved children in the community to music opportunities, with a special emphasis on liturgical music.
A music aficionado and patron of the arts, Roberta served on the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors and the Florentine Opera State Advisory Board and was a founding patron of the Pamiro Opera Company under the artistic direction of her longtime friend Maestro Miroslav Pansky. She was honored with the distinguished Fox Valley Arts Alliance Renaissance Award for outstanding contributions to the arts in the Fox Valley.
She is survived by her beloved only son, Kevin (Brenda) Roloff and cherished grandson Andrew of Shoreview, Minn.; sister Janice Krempin Wahl of Columbus, Oh.; sister-in-law Rita Krempin of Green Bay; sister-in-law Barbara Roloff of Kaukauna; nieces and nephews; faithful friends AJ Frea, Debra (Bill) Nuthals, Sandy (Glenn) Gigstead and Todd (Mary) Schmidt, all of Green Bay, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet of Los Angeles; and countless church, arts and community friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Robert Roloff; loving parents Rev. Arthur and Clara Krempin; siblings Thelma Krempin Vogt and Rev. George Krempin; brothers-in-law Roland Vogt and Bishop J. Philip Wahl; and dear friend Maestro Miroslav Pansky.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 26, at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E. North Street (corner of Drew St.), Appleton, with a church reception to follow. To view full obituary or send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
Memorial gifts may be made to First English Lutheran Church, Appleton, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Roberta loved her Lord. She loved her family. She loved music and the arts. And she loved being generous, sharing her many blessings with others. Indeed, the world has less sparkle and shine without her in it.
Roberta lived by the words "Soli Deo Gloria" - to God alone the glory.
As we send our cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, relative and friend into God's loving arms, we thank and praise Him alone for the gift of this precious soul who touched our lives immeasurably and made it more beautiful in every possible way.
