Bob graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1945. After graduating, he enlisted into the Army from 1945-1947. Upon coming back to Green Bay, he worked for a short time, with his father on the railroads. He then found his passion working for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier. His route included Dousman Street where the Marie (Liska) Stankevitz family lived. When Marie became widowed, Bob also delivered to St. Jude Catholic Church rectory where Marie was working as a secretary.  With lots of interaction, dating and meeting Marie's five children, that ultimately led to marriage on August 21, 1981 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Together at church, they volunteered often, sang in the Spirit Singers Choir and were known as "The Team" especially when singing Just A Closer Walk with Thee. She preceded him in death in 2021.

Bob was very patriotic, and proud of his time in the Army. He very much enjoyed watching and feeding birds. He loved his garden, cutting his lawn, keeping his yard neat and tinkering.
