In the early morning of Thursday, October 18, 2012, Bob passed on peacefully of renal failure. Bob was determined not to allow his diagnosis to define his life. His brave decisions should be a lasting example of making the most of life and facing the end with dignity and grace. He will be remembered as Husband to Dorothy, Father and loving Dad to Paul, Pops to Lauren and Lexi, Bob to Sami, and Friend to many.
Bob greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He was an active member of the New Franken Sportsmen's Club, and the Brown County Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed target pistol shooting at the De Pere Sportsmen's Club with his friend, Dave. Wednesday was the day he and his friend, Charlie went sporting clay shooting to see who could best each other.
A joy of his retirement years was watching his granddaughters race their go-karts. He repaired the damage they did to their go-karts on a weekly basis.
Bob was a graduate of Northern Michigan University. His career began as an educator, which he remained all his life. He served as zone service representative for General Motors Chevrolet division based in Green Bay for seven years. He then spent the remainder of his career at Paper Converting Machine Company working in the Customer Service Department. He was particularly proud to be an inventor and have a U.S. patent for folding apparatus and method, which he held with Paper Converting Machine Company.
Bob was born on April 7, 1938, to Marie (Sturm) and Leo Bertolini in Norway, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Bertolini.
Sharing his loss with his wife, Dorothy is their son, Paul Bertolini; granddaughters, Lauren Muenster and Alexa Bertolini. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Bal; and his nieces, Linda, Diane, Janice, Jeanne, Joanie and Judy. Friends will also mourn his absence.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
The family would like to thank Dr. T. Smith and his staff for their care and understanding. They would also like to thank Unity Hospice. Bob's time with them was very brief but meaningful. Flowers are welcome and a memorial fund has been established.
