Robert "Bob" A. Bartella, Sr., 82, Sobieski, WI, was called home by Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. He died of natural causes after a short illness. He was born at home in Sobieski on February 3, 1940, to Anton and Emily (Rovinski) Bartella.
Bob graduated from Pulaski High School in 1958. Immediately after graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at TwentyNine Palms, California. He married Mary Cook on October 9, 1965, and they had a son, Robert "Rob" Jr., and a daughter, Anne Marie.
When he returned to Wisconsin in 1963, he worked at Fort Howard Paper Co. From 1965-2000 he worked first at FMC and then at Amplas, assembling and testing machinery. He retired from Amplas in 2000.
Bob loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, kayak, and work in his woods. He also enjoyed fixing small engines and helping out his neighbors. His favorite hobby was woodworking. Bob loved making beautiful pieces of furniture and made many for his family and friends. He sang in the Resurrection Funeral Choir in Sobieski, Pulaski, Krakow and Hofa Park area. Bob also sang in his parish church choir, St. Maximilian Kolbe.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Rob; and daughter, Anne Marie; sister, Agnes Winiecki; brother-in-law, Jerry Safford; sister-in-law, Mary Warner Bartella; his wife's brothers; Frank (Maggie) Cook, and John Cook; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray; sister, Jean Safford; brother-in-law, Bob Winiecki, and sister-in-law, Marcia Cook.
Family and friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave. Entrance directly across from the BP gas station on Glendale). Memorial visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 25, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at church, with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Followed by Military Honors.
