Richard J. "Dick" Londo, Ph.D, 75, a lifelong Green Bay resident, died comfortably, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1933, to Joseph and Josephine (Cuish) Londo.
Dick graduated from SS. Peter & Paul Grade School, Central Catholic High School in 1951 and St. Norbert College in 1955.
He continued his studies while raising his family, earning his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an emphasis in English.
On June 18, 1955, he married Barbara A. Crooks at St. Joseph Catholic Church where they remained members for over 50 years.
Dick taught at Our Lady of Premontre High School for one year before beginning his career at St. Norbert College, where he retired from the English Department after 46 years of service. He was a member of the Golden Knights.
Dick will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara; five children, Cathy Londo and her partner, Tony Burkard, Tom Londo, Ph.D., and his wife, Noorul Rahman, Ph.D., Mike and Lori Londo, Ann Londo, Pat and Sheri Londo; a son-in-law, Dave Navratil; six grandchildren, Michael (Alyssa) Navratil, Amy (Brian Cherrington, Ph.D.) Navratil, Ph.D., Alex Londo, Evan Londo, Starr (Brian) McAllister, Amber LeComte; two great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Jack Navratil; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Cliff) Bowers, Sue (Dave) Nelson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret "Margie" Navratil and an infant daughter.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of 9th St. and 12th Ave., from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church with Father Tim Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
