Raymond J. Burich, 97 passed away March 30th, 2025.
Ray was born at home on August 26th, 1927 in Reedsville, WI. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, Reedsville, WI. He graduated from Reedsville High School in 1945. Following high school he was drafted into the service. He served as a military police officer in WW II from 1945-1947. He enjoyed playing the clarinet with the army band representing the military police. He was honorably discharged after his service. He then worked for a short time at the Ariens Company in Brillion WI.
On October 20th, 1951 he married LaVerne Loch at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Green Bay, WI. He is survived by his wife of 73 years and his four sons and their spouses, Daniel (Susan), Douglas (Julie), Gerald (Linda), Jeffrey (Mary) Burich. Eight grandchildren, Matthew (Jesse) Burich, Caitie (Mike) Maurer, Elizabeth (Daren) Scott, Brian Burich, Eric Burich, Kristen Burich, Aidan Burich and Rachel (Cory) Ott. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Reese, Jack and Melanie Burich, Maxwell, Ellie Mae, and Elijah Maurer, Graysen and Ophelia Scott. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ray was employed by Paper Converting Machine Company for 40 years serving as a road service technician. He enjoyed the many years of travel to different countries and appreciated their cultures. Ray served on the Board of Directors as a founding member at PCM Credit Union for 13 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Lombardi Council 118334 at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, and was a current member of the Knights of Columbus Council 617 at St. Agnes Parish. Ray was a member of the Retired Men's Club in Green Bay. He also enjoyed his monthly breakfast with the PCMC retirees at the Bay Family Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Anna Burich, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Mary Loch. Three brothers preceded him, Leonard, Robert and James Burich, three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Florence (James) Persson, Ann (Floyd) Wouters, and Lucille (Melvin) Lannoye. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers-in-law and their spouses, Bernard (Mary and Genevieve) Loch, Norbert (Margaret and Jean) Loch, Harold (Exie) Loch, Malcolm Loch, Kenneth (Rona) Loch, Joseph D. (Beatrice) Loch, and two brothers-in-law Howard and Sylvester Loch who died as toddlers. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Norman Wesoloski.
Ray is survived by one brother Wilbert (Delores) Burich. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law, Shirley Burich, Rosalie Burich, Barbara Burich, Dorothy Wesoloski and Sr. Mary Barbara Loch.
Family was very important to Ray. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him "Grandpa Great". He and LaVerne enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years. He enjoyed working and restoring his 1925 Model T Ford. He enjoyed doing outside work by maintaining the flower gardens and lawn care. He also enjoyed playing golf for many years in different leagues and was proud of his Hole in One at Brown County Golf Course on Hole 3. He was very helpful to LaVerne when it came to decorating for the many different seasons throughout the years.
Visitation will be at St. Agnes Parish, 1484 9th Street., on Thursday, April 3, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Father Quinn Mann as Celebrant. Entombment will be at Allouez Mausoleum.
Memorials have been established for Holy Family School, Educational Fund.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Unity Hospice and Home Instead for their compassionate care to Raymond during his time with them.
