Peter Marto Sr., 83, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 8, 2023. He was born July 30, 1940, in Green Bay to Wilbert "Bill" and Virginia (Liesch) Marto.

Pete grew up in Green Bay and graduated from West High School, Class of 1958. He served in the US Army in the Signal Corps from 1960-61. After being honorably discharged, he met the love of his life, Marlene VandenLangenberg in 1961. On August 13, 1966, Pete and Marlene married and then honeymooned at the PineSnake Lodge, Pembine, WI. They had three sons and raised their family on the west side of Green Bay.

Pete joined the Green Bay Fire Department in 1965, and rose to the rank of District Commander. He faithfully served the City of Green Bay for 30 years. Pete was a character with character. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to "The Shack", but his most treasured moments were spending time with his grandkids and family. His selfless spirit enjoyed making the people around him smile and laugh. His sense of humor and generous heart will be missed.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Marlene Marto; their children, Andy, Jeff (Jodie), and Pete Jr. (Kirsten); grandchildren, David, Hope, Trace, Charles, Isaiah, Izzy, Charlie, Will, Sam, and Lilly; one brother, John (Jean) Marto; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Saturday September 16, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  The Funeral Service will begin at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
