Paul Ellmann, 95, Green Bay, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. He was born May 4, 1928, in Oconto, WI to Herbert and Katherine (Ford) Ellmann.
Paul graduated from Oconto High School in 1946. He married Bernice DeVoe on January 3, 1953 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Menominee, MI. Bernice preceded him in death on April 3, 2020 after 67 years of marriage. After high school, Paul joined the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and later was a member and Commander of American Legion Auxiliary, Post 74, in Oconto. Paul was self-employed, working as a milk distributor six days a week for over 30 years. He was a busy man, but still found time to be heavily involved with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oconto. After retirement, Paul and Bernice relocated to Green Bay. The couple enjoyed their retirement by traveling throughout the United States. Paul loved to play cards, watch football and was a sucker for a bet. He will be remembered for his quick wit and kindhearted nature.
He is survived by his children, Jean Hansen, Peshtigo, Mary Kay (Rick) Knutson, Green Bay, Karen (Jody) Drewry, Madison, and Nancy (Robin) Pritzl, Little Suamico; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellmann, Joyce Francis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; parents, Herbert and Katherine; son-in-law, Gary Hansen; brothers, Norbert Ellmann of California, Leon (Dorothy) "Brud" Ellmann of Milwaukee.
Friends and family will gather at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Oconto Catholic Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
