Opal Louise Cartier, 103, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025. She was born September 16, 1921, in Green Valley, WI to Oliver Christian and Louise M. (Pipgrass) Framnes.
Opal graduated from Gillett High School. On August 31, 1941, Opal was united in marriage to Ralph "Nick" Cartier at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2010. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Opal proudly worked as a phone operator during World War II. She worked for over 10 years at Sears. Opal enjoyed gardening, making maple syrup, and spending time at her cabin "retreat" near Gillett. She was a shrewd card player and a diehard Packers fan.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Cartier-Stone, Nick (Sharon) Cartier, Cheryl Cartier, Patti (Mark Neely) Cartier-Neely; grandchildren, Gabriel (fiancée, Ingrith Mayir Rojas) Neely, Crystal (Tristan) LaChance, Ryan (Allison) Neely, Samuel (Brittney) Feller, Danielle (Ken) Baird, Jessica (Rob) Stone-Grusin, Meghan (special friend, David Boenisch) Stone; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Trevor (Kristen Bennett), Mason, and Spencer Baird, Miles, Oliver, Alex, and Andie Grusin, Allison Stone, Cartier Gunesch, Thea LaChance; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; grandson, Nathan Stone; son-in-law, Fred Stone; her parents, brothers, and sisters.
Friends and family will gather at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson Ave., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28; Service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Green Valley. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be used to purchase a bench near Opal at Green Valley Cemetery or to benefit the Green Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
The family would like to thank Opal's supportive neighbors who helped her stay in the home she loved for 78 years. Special thanks to Steve and Tom. Thank you to the caring staff at Rennes Health and Rehab, and Peggy from Agrace Hospice. We're grateful to so many people who were a blessing to our mother and to us.
