Nels E. "Bud" Strand Jr., 98, of Green Bay, WI (formerly of Cloquet, MN), passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was born on May 20, 1926, in Milwaukee to Nels Sr. and Violet (Edwards) Strand.
Nels enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. He married Janet Franklin on June 12, 1965. As a corporate engineer, Nels contributed significantly to advancements in the paper industry, retiring from James River Corporation.
Nels enjoyed fishing, rifle and bow hunting, and playing lawn jarts. He had a passion for HAM radio and was an enthusiastic operator. He loved western books, especially those by Louis L'Amour, having read his entire catalog. Pizza was his favorite food, and he cherished sharing slices with his family.
He Is survived by his children, Cindiana King and her husband Mark, Arlene (Chris) Braun, James (Gaby) Strand, and Nels "Chip" (Danielle) Strand; grandchildren, Sarah, Kyle, Juli, Vivian, Henry, James, Samuel, Jacob, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Anna; great-grandchildren, Avery, Delaney, Emmett, Chase, Zander, and Aubri; siblings, Gayle (Robin) Strand, Peter Strand, and Merridy Strand; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Nels was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet; and siblings, Burdette Strand, Bryon Strand, Rodney Strand, and Darlene Eidum.
