Melissa Messenger, 52, Sobieski, passed away on October 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. She was born on December 2, 1973 in Oconto, to Michael and Cynthia (Daul) Messenger.

To know Melissa was to love her. She was larger than life, full of energy, laughter, determination, and a passion for living that was truly contagious. She didn't just walk into a room; she lit it up. She had a way of making people feel special, loved, and capable of accomplishing anything.

Melissa was a woman who worked hard, dreamed big, loved fiercely, and lived life on her own terms. She built an incredible career with Pure Romance, where she inspired, mentored, and empowered thousands of women. What began as a business became so much more. It gave her lifelong friendships, opportunities to travel the world, and a platform to encourage others to believe in themselves and live the lives they deserved.

But Melissa's greatest accomplishment wasn't measured by success, awards, or recognition. It was measured by the people she loved and the memories she created.

On September 1, 2007, she married Don Charniak, affectionately known as her "Silver Fox," they built a life filled with love, adventure, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. Together, they made it their mission to show their nine nieces and nephews, along with several other children they welcomed into their lives, just how big and beautiful the world could be. They believed experiences and memories were far more valuable than material things.

Melissa had an extraordinary bond with her identical twin sister, Theresa. From the very beginning, they shared a connection that words could never fully explain. They were more than sisters. They were best friends, confidantes, and each other's constant throughout life. A bond like theirs doesn't end. It simply changes until they meet again.

After losing their father, Melissa adopted a philosophy that would become the foundation of how she lived her life.

Not tomorrow. Not next month. Not next year. NOW. She believed life wasn't a dress rehearsal. We get one chance to make the most of it, and she intended to do exactly that. She encouraged everyone around her to take the trip, make the memories, chase the dream, say yes to adventure, and never wait for the perfect time.

Melissa didn't just talk about living life NOW. She lived it.

She loved her family, her friends, her fur babies, traveling, celebrating, and bringing people together. Whether she was halfway around the world or surrounded by loved ones at home, Melissa knew that the greatest moments in life were the ones shared with people who mattered most.

Although her life was cut far too short, Melissa packed more love, laughter, adventures, friendships, and memories into her 52 years than many people experience in a lifetime.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Don Charniak; her mother, Cynthia Messenger; her identical twin sister, Theresa (Kevin) Barlament; her brother, Bruce (Tammy) Messenger; and her nine nieces and nephews, Sami (Liam) Fahey, Morgan (Blake Margis) Messenger, Owen (Jada Johnson) Messenger, Ethan (Cailey Eastman) Barlament, Amanda (Nick Bopray) Charniak, Rachael (Dawson Hietpas) Charniak, Andy (Amanda Rice) Charniak, CJ (Kyle) Watson, Austin Charniak.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Michael Messenger.

Melissa's legacy will live on through her family, her countless friends, and the thousands of lives she touched along the way.

Melissa would not want us to put our lives on hold. She would want us to keep making memories, keep traveling, keep laughing, keep loving, and most importantly, keep living.

And the next time you find yourself wondering whether you should take that trip, make that phone call, or do something you've always dreamed of, think of Melissa.

And do it. NOW.

Forever loved. Never forgotten. Always inspiring us to live life NOW.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Stadium View, 1963 Holmgren Way., from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 8; Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM (NOON). Guests are invited to dress casually. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
