Megan Gloria (Gilliss) Ware, 42, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2023. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota on November 4, 1980 to Terrance (Terry) and Mary (Eisenreich) Gilliss. Megan grew up in Green Bay, WI and was a 1999 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and continued her education at St. Norbert College, in which she had an opportunity to study abroad at the University of Limerick in Ireland with two of her long-time friends. Megan graduated from St. Norbert College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business degree. While in college, Megan met Peter Ware, Jr. and they married September 1, 2007 at Old St. Joe's in De Pere, WI, embarking on a beautiful life journey together. Pete and Megan started their careers in Chicago and eventually made their way back to Green Bay, WI, where Megan worked at Schreiber Foods, where she absolutely adored her "cheese family" and had many coworkers who became friends, and an extension of family. After returning to Green Bay, Megan was thrilled to make her grandparents' home her family home, and welcome two beautiful children with Pete - Mac (10) and Julia (7). Megan was ever present in Mac and Julia's lives, heavily involved in their sports and school activities and being a mom (and "dog mom" to her beloved Iggy) was one of the greatest joys of her life. Megan lovingly told Mac and Julia daily "remember to always be kind".

Megan was diagnosed with breast cancer 13 months ago and fought an arduous battle against the disease, in which she had come out victoriously. She completed treatments and was healing and had an acute awareness of the beauty and fragility of life. Megan handled each hurdle with incredible poise as she regained her health. Megan was a part of the local "Live Strong" program through the YMCA, where she was getting stronger each day with a community of fellow cancer survivors. Megan could teach us all how to handle life's challenges with such grace.

Megan exuded kindness, inclusion, humor, love and acceptance for all. Megan was deeply generous, always putting others first and finding ways to make everyone in her presence feel special. This love and zest for life was learned from her loving family and grew with her support from Pete. Megan enjoyed any time that she could spend with her sister, Sandy. Together, they loved trying new restaurants, cheering on the Packers or sharing simple moments such as sitting around the house and laughing or talking about what song they needed to hear next. They were inseparable and were both honored to be known as "The Gilliss Girls" wherever they went.

Megan was the life of the party and truly lived life to its fullest and celebrated time spent with her many beloved friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members. She could dance anywhere, knew exactly the perfect playlist for any occasion and could not turn down a cheese curd or bloody mary. Megan was a proud Green Bay Packer season ticket holder and cherished her football Sundays. She and Pete treasured family time spent in Fox Lake, WI, where she would paddle board, enjoy pontoon boat rides and sit for hours with the kids by the campfire.

Megan will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Pete; their children, Mac and Julia; her sister, Sandy (Jeff) Zwijack; parents-in-law, Peter and Ginny Ware; brothers-in-law, Chris Ware and Andy (Kara) Ware; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that are considered family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Terry and Mary, who welcomed her through heaven's gate.

Friends and family will gather at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 13; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating.  To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .

A special thank you to the many family members, dear friends, "Allard Avenue" neighbors, and coworkers of Megan's for their outpouring of love and support during the difficult time.

A memorial fund has been established in Megan's name, for the future education of Mac and Julia.  Checks can be made out to "The Ware Family" and sent to Blaney Funeral Home, ATTN Megan Ware Memorial;1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303.
