Maureen J. Vaessen, 85, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025. She was born March 22, 1940, in Green Bay to James V. and Bernadette (Rolf) Long.

Maureen graduated from West High School. She worked at UW - Green Bay for many years. She married Roger A. Vaessen at St. Patrick Catholic Church on September 2, 1961. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2015. Maureen was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a fantastic homemaker and was a stay-at-home mom during her children's younger years. Maureen was a wonderful cook and loved to share meals with family and friends. She was an active volunteer at the local Disabled American Veterans and various food pantries. Maureen enjoyed playing cards and was in multiple card clubs. She was a lifelong, diehard, Packer fan. Maureen was proud to be a grandma and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Eric Vaessen, Vicky Vaessen, Matthew (Adina Weinig) Vaessen, Luke (Sara) Vaessen, Cindy (Pete) Hermann; grandchildren, Marrina, Jessica, Jaxson, Alli, Grayson, Evan, Dylan; great-grandchild, Noah; sibling, Victor (Jayne) Long; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Donald) Josephs, Kathy Vaessen; brother-in-law, Harry (Judy) Proctor; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents, James and Bernadette; siblings, Donald (Darlene) Long, Patricia (Howard) Peterson, Thomas (Tai) Long, Colleen (Richard Brosig) Turnquist, Gerrie (Frank) Pirman, Nancy Proctor, Kathy Long; in-laws, Leo and Florence Vaessen; brothers-in-law, Richard Vaessen, Donald (Jean) Vaessen; sister-in-law, Margaret Vaessen.

Friends and family will gather at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. with Fr.
