Mary Jane Knuth, 85, Suamico, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She was born March 22, 1939, in Green Bay to Raphael J. and Helen M. (Doyle) Geurts.

Mary Jane graduated from West High School, Class of 1957. She continued her education at UW Madison and graduating from UW Oshkosh with a degree in primary education.  Mary taught at Chapel and Martin Luther King Elementary schools throughout her career.  Mary was dedicated to her profession and found great joy in advancing the curriculum for the district.  Mary's devotion to teaching was honored in 1994 with the first Golden Apple Award.

In 1963, Mary was united in marriage to Lewis Knuth at St. Patrick Church in Green Bay. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Throughout life Mary enjoyed many Packer games with her son and cheered them on loudly.  Mary found great solace in caring for her gardens and watching many sunsets from her home.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Monica) Knuth; niece and nephew, Michael Geurts, Lori Geurts.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Helen; brother, Robert (Mary) Geurts; nephew, Geoffrey.

Friends and family will gather at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 3370 Deerfield West, Suamico. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17; Mass to follow at 11 a.m. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

The Knuth family is grateful for the compassionate care of Mary from her team at Unity Hospice and Bellin in Home Health.

A memorial fund will be established in Mary's name.
