Mary Lou (Compton) Garrity, Howard, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, on her 84 th birthday. She was born February 15, 1939, to Lucille and Bert Compton Sr.
Mary graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1957. She married Ronald J. Garrity Sr. on June 15, 1957. Together they owned and operated Bay Auto Parts for many years and also helped create Sandalwood Golf Course. She enjoyed time spent with family and spending time on Robert's Lake. After retirement they built their dream home on the lake so they could spend more time with their family and friends in the area. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, snowmobiling, and going to the casino. Mary loved to cook, no one ever left her house hungry. She was always very generous and hospitable. Mary was even a foster parent in her younger years. Mary may have been small in stature, but she had a huge personality and an even bigger heart. She will be dearly missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Karen Flegel) Garrity, Randy (Judy) Garrity, Ronald (Jane) Garrity Jr., Robert (Chris Oestreich) Garrity, Melinda (Michael) Ruby; grandchildren, Stephen, Nick, Katie (fiancé, Courtlin), Gage, Heather, Jimmy, Charlie, Rene, Brent; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ella, Isaac, Noah, Parker; siblings, Betty Ozarowicz, Joyce Bessert, Carol Baetsen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Vannieuwenhoven, Nancy Compton, Diane Compton, Jack (Sue) Garrity, Joan (Dale) Weiland, Jerry (Lois) Garrity, Dennis (Sue) Garrity; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents; siblings, Bert (Arlene) Compton Jr., Bill (Dorothy) Compton, Harold (Germaine) Compton, Bernadine (Andrew) Ozarowicz, Bernice (Emil) Klimczyk, Richard Compton, Ella Vannieuwenhoven, Jim (Barb) Compton, George Compton; parents-in-law John and Gertrude Garrity, Gladys Garrity; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gladys Compton, Ray Ozarowicz, Floyd Bessert, Woody Garrity, Mary Garrity, Sally Ann Garrity; infant siblings, Beverly, Joseph, Clarence; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends and family will gather at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (The entrance is directly across from BP gas station on Glendale Ave.), from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
