Martin Gerard "Marty" Smits, 60, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 25, 2019. He was born on December 8, 1959, in Green Bay to Merlin and Junella Smits.
Marty attended Premontre and Preble High Schools. On May 5, 1990 he married Sharon Mielke. Over the years, Marty had been employed by Clark Cartage, Fabco, Mac's Hydraulics, and FedEx; most recently, he and his wife own Executive Dry Cleaners. Marty was an awesome mechanic and enjoyed helping everyone.
He really had a special way of making you feel loved, a professional teaser that could always make you laugh and put a smile on your face. Marty always knew the right things to say and offered plenty of wisdom, among his many talents.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smits; his parents, Merlin and Junella Smits; his siblings, Debbie Deer, Bryan (Lisa) Smits, and Rodney (Ann) Smits; and his nieces and nephews, Mark, Evervesta (Alex), Merlin (Melody), Joseph (Heidi), Rochelle (T.J.), Terri Jo (Erik), Becky (Brian), Amanda (Sam), and Thomas. Marty is further survived by Sharon's siblings, Gary Mielke, Todd (Karla) Mielke, Robin (Randy) Verheyen, Jill (Scott) Hill, Julie (Jim) Larscheid; and very special nieces and nephews, Kacie (Don), Zachery (Michelle), Courtney (Jeff), Trevor, Brooke (special friend, Marquil), Brett, Jadin and Jace; great-nephew and great-niece, Leland and Madelyn; special friends, Gabriele (fiancé, Pramod) Nelson, Julie (Rick) Valenta and Aaron Vandenbush; as well as other relatives and friends.
Marty was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Smits; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Marian Mielke; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Deer and Steve Haack.
Visitation will be at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 28; followed by the Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
