Marilyn J. Hatfield-Cox, 77, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She was born December 21, 1948, in Quincy, IL to Charles and Bernice Davis.

She was a wonderful mom. A true one-of-a-kind. She had a childlike sense of wonder and delight that followed her all the days of her life. Our mom was a friend to everyone she met. She taught us kids so much growing up, but the most important thing she taught us was unconditional love-how to give it and how to receive it. The strong love she showed her children shows in our whole family.

She was an artist with works displayed all over Central Wisconsin and even one on display in Beijing, China. She was a member of the Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors Association. She was an art history professor. She was a highly intelligent person by nature. She went to college at the age of 33 and graduated cum laude with her master's in art history at UW - Green Bay. She was a straight shooter that could be counted on not to sugarcoat things. She loved dancing, music, laughter, family and friends. She was a pistol.

She is survived by her children, Ronda (Ed) Ziehms, Jami (Kevin) Wray, Jason (Tara) Hatfield; grandchildren, Nicholas Eisenberg, Nathan Nickel, Justin Nickel, Bridie Root Hatfield, Corbin Root; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie (Roger) Dillon, Patricia Scott, Larry (Sherry) Davis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Friends and family will gather at the Green Bay Botanical Garden, 2600 Larsen Rd., from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, October 4; Prayer Service to be held at 3pm. Guest are kindly asked to enter through the main visitor center and proceed down the stairs to the George Kress Foundation Suite of Classrooms.
