Lucille Katers, 93, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022. She was born May 9, 1929, in Seymour, Wisconsin to the late William and Mary (Brown) Reis.
Lucille married Alvin Katers on September 15, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. Lucille was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish. Lucille was a good daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a simple person, who enjoyed her flowers and garden. Lucille loved to watch her boys with their dirt bikes. She also enjoyed listening to music from Daniel O'Donnell and from her brother's polka band, Ray Reis Orchestra. But best of all was her love for her family, they always came first. She liked the get togethers, the holidays were special, as well as time spent with her grandchildren. They always made her feel young. She loved attending the activities and events they were involved in. She was very proud of them. Grandma Moo, Grandma K, and Grandma Lucy were all nicknames for Grandma Lucille, this way the grandkids knew which grandma they were visiting.
Lucille is survived by her children, Robert (Jill) Katers, Judy (Fritz) Ness, Peter (Jody) Katers, Tina (Jim) Joyce, Alice (David) Jordan, Gene (Amy) Katers; her five wonderful grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelsey (fiancé, Taylor Kelley), Lukas (Morgan), Kylie (Zach Durkee), Keeshawn; and one brother-in-law, John Wenzel; mother of Kimberly and Kelsey, Kelly Katers; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; her children, Todd, Mary, and Joseph; and siblings, Violet, Helen, Ester, Elevina, Elmer, Jake, Richard, Raymond, William Jr. and Clifford.
Lucille had one big wish that people would donate their organs. This was important to her because she received cornea transplants from a donor.
Lucille requested not to have any sort of funeral service. She said you can remember her based on the last time you saw and spoke with her. God be with you till we meet again. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com or cards may be sent to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303 to the attention of Lucille Katers' family, and they will be forwarded.
Lucille's family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Serio and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital.
