Lorraine J. Massey, 81, Green Bay, died peacefully Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at a local nursing home. She was born April 17, 1927, in Green Bay, to John and Mayme (Duchateau) Mommaerts. On June 1, 1946, she married Richard A. Massey at Annunciation Catholic Church. After more than 41 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on April 27, 1988. Lorraine was an active member of Annunciation Parish and later St. Jude Parish. She was also a member of the Ex-P.O.W.s club with her husband, Richard, and was a member of the Brown County Historical Society. In the years after her children were grown, Lorraine returned to the workplace. She was employed for nine years by Green Bay Foods in the corporate offices before retiring. Lorraine had a love of art and could often be found drawing portraits and groups of people when her busy schedule allowed her to.

Survivors include six children and their spouses, Lynn Massey, Green Bay; Charlene and Ken Coisman, Todd and Jane Massey, all of Suamico; Denise and Kevin Judy, Lena; Robin and Deb Massey, Suamico; Amy and Dean Capelle, Little Suamico; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Massey, Suamico; nine grandchildren, Cammie and Brent Goral, Joe and Mona Gegare, Jesse and Laura Coisman, Jon Gegare and his special friend, Alisa Andersen, Adam and Bobbi Massey, Bree and Chad Decker, Amanda Massey, Andy Massey, Richard Massey; 11 great-grandchildren, Lyon, Stone, Baye and Willow Goral, Zachary and Jackson Gegare, Lauren Gegare, Genevieve "Evie" and Will Decker, Brady Massey and Austin Estes; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernice LaLuzerne, Gertrude and Robert Gmack, all of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Helen Massey; six step-grandchildren, John Zelzer, Sarah Miles, Jenny Agamaite, Matt Miller, Scott Miller and Liz Jeanquart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Massey; a son Mark Massey, her parents; a grandson, Robin Massey, Jr.; two sisters, Mildred Bain and Bonnie Barrette; four brothers-in-law, Bernard LaLuzerne, Richard Barrette, Lloyd Massey and Vern Bain; a sister-in-law, Marie LaPlant.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Sr. Toni Jendrasiak officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
