Lillian "Lily" Veronica (Wroblewski) Kozlowski died peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, at the age of 101.
Lillian was born December 17, 1923, at 2:00 pm, in the town of New Hope, Wisconsin. A town name that aptly described the birth of a life whose focus was on finding optimism in all things. She was born to Joseph and Annastasia (Ksioszk) Wroblewski, the fifth of ten children, and grew up on a small family farm in New Hope.
In her teenage years, she boarded a bus and then a train to Chicago to join her sister, Agnes. She found work first in cleaning houses and then in factories that supported the war efforts. Lillian spoke fondly of those times, enjoying the autonomy of earning her own living and living independently.
She later moved to Milwaukee, where she continued to work and lived in a second story walk up. The young man downstairs, recently home from the war, followed her home from church every week and repeatedly pestered her to go out on a date. She turned him down several times, even "stomping" her feet in her apartment just to let him know she was not interested. Finally, she relented and went out on a date with Stanley Kozlowski.
Lillian married the love of her life, Stanley Kozlowski, at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia, Wisconsin, on October 4, 1947. They lived in Milwaukee for several years and had three daughters: Patricia, Carol, and Marjorie. When the girls were young, they moved to Green Bay and built a house on Russell Street, where Lillian lived until she was 100 years old.
Lillian and Stanley raised their daughters in Green Bay and at a summer cottage on Half Moon Lake, in Pound, Wisconsin. While Stanley was busy establishing Stan's Automotive Service, a business focused on automotive parts, Lillian focused on raising their daughters. Later, she worked part-time at Packerland Automotive alongside Stanley. While creating a life in Green Bay, Lillian remained close and in touch with her siblings, particularly those who lived in Stevens Point and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
As Lillian's daughters grew and had children of their own, grandchildren and great-grandchildren became a joy in her life. Life revolved around play time at Grandma and Grandpa's house, going to dance recitals and plays, sports games and meets, band concerts, graduations, and weddings. Lillian never missed an opportunity to celebrate her grandchildren. Everyone loved sitting around the kitchen table at Russell Street, eating dinner, playing a game of cards, or simply sitting with Grandma to talk and catch up. Lillian was a wonderful listener and great conversationalist - and all her grandchildren cherish those memories and experiences.
In Lillian's later years, she enjoyed retirement as "snowbirds" in Arizona with Stanley. After Stanley passed, she remained in Green Bay and began a second chapter in retirement, which focused on building deep friendships - such as with Pat Lohrey and Craig, Deb, and Samantha Hendry - who became a second family and remain so to this day.
Lillian was deeply committed to her Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Agnes Parish and the Catholic Women's Club, where she made many wonderful friends in the community. She also nourished her personal spirituality through regular practices like praying the rosary and scripture reading.
One of the gifts that Lillian gave to many people was the ability to feel like she was their mother. Many friends and even acquaintances who only knew her for a short time, formed a bond and kinship with her.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Perspectives Senior Living for their support and care of Lillian while she was a resident. The family also thanks Unity Hospice nurses for their kindness and respect towards Lillian.
Lillian is survived by her daughters, Pat (Mike) Kraemer and Margie (Gerald Friederichs) Kozlowski; grandchildren, Sara Kraemer, Matthew (Wendy) Kraemer, Michael (Carly) Kraemer, Elizabeth (Matthew) Hiatt, Greta Friederichs, Hannah (Seth Truran) Friederichs and Peter Friederichs; great-grandchildren Lillian and Lucas Kraemer; Madisen, Jameson, and Stetson Hiatt; Cheyney Underwood and Telford (Grace) Underwood; sisters Dorothy Gagas, Grace Gagas, and Rita Schulist; and close friends, Craig, Deb, and Samantha Hendry, Pat Lohrey, Jone Wood.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband, Stanley Kozlowski; daughter, Carol Kozlowski; brothers, Ben, Roman, Stanley, and Dominic Wroblewski; and sisters, Agnes Choate and Gertrude Schulist.
