Leon Anthony Dunst, 79, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born June 10, 1944, in Milwaukee to Alvin and Loretta (Schraufnagel) Dunst.
Leon married Rose King on October 5, 1984. He attended Dominion High School, Associated MIT in Milwaukee and Spencerian College. Leon worked as an auditor and compliance officer for a variety of banks. He retired in 2009. Leon was a longtime faithful member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and was the money counter at church. He loved to hike and travel with Rose. Together they went on a safari in Africa, visited Alaska, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and many national parks. Leon enjoyed cooking and gardening. He made the best salsa, canned pickles, and each year his garden got bigger and bigger. He was an avid Packer fan and dedicated Sundays to football. Leon loved to play uno and mini-golf and was very competitive. Leon was never without a book in hand and completed countless sudokus and puzzles. He loved his family and was an incredibly proud grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Heidi Ann (John) LaRosa; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber; siblings, Donald (Anne) Dunst, Albert (Eileen) Dunst, Mary (Jack) Steiner; Rose's siblings, Bonnie (Mark) Jackson, Donald King; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Leon was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley (Milton) Semon; Rose's siblings, Robert King, Doris (Robert) Begalle; and his parents.
Friends and family will gather at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond St., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17; Service to follow at 11 a.m. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Leon's family wishes to extend a special thank you to neighbors, Juan Zamora, Mirna Vazquez, Dayana Zamora, Alondra Zamora, David Zamora, Mario Vazquez, Angel Vazquez, Eduardo Vazquez for all of their kindness, friendship, family, and compassion given to Leon and Rose. Rose's family wants to thank Leon for taking such good care of Rose with devotion and protection.
