Lawrence R. "Larry" Reimer, 85, Howard, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, February 24, 2024. The son of the late Raymond and Agnes (Drella) Reimer was born on May 13, 1938 in Pittsfield, WI.
Larry attended St. Pat's grade school, Central Catholic, and Premontre High School where he graduated from in 1956. He then enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Pamperin, in Arizona on February 16, 1957. Larry then was stationed overseas in Germany, before coming home in 1959. Larry had a very strong work ethic. Shortly following his return, Larry began working at Proctor & Gamble where he would later retire from after 34 years of dedicated service. He worked in several departments, the last being as an advanced auto mechanic, where he was one of the first to work on the automated guided vehicles.
Larry was not one to sit still. He enjoyed playing hockey and snowmobiling in the winters. He and Sue were members of the Night Riders snowmobile club and would go on lengthy rides with friends. In the summers, he could be found either on the golf course or going for a swim. He spent many weekends at their cottage on Little Newton. There he would enjoy having drinks while sitting around the campfire with his family and his best friend, Bill Pamperin. He also enjoyed boating and going to the local restaurants.
Larry had a selfless heart, who gladly gave back by volunteering at St. John's Homeless Shelter. He and Sue were there early in the morning serving breakfast to those in need. He was also a crossing guard and a long-time election poll worker in Howard.
Larry loved hosting get togethers with and for his family and friends. Whether it was a Packers tailgate, the annual Halloween party, or their summer booyah bash, Larry relished the opportunity to have a good time with others.
He had an unwavering faith and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he ushered for many years. He and Sue also prepared and served funeral lunches at the Church. His prayer and faith were a large part of him beating cancer twice in the past under the watchful care of Dr. Hassan Tahsildar, his cancer doctor and a man who had come to know and befriend Larry.
As the patriarch of a 5-generation family, his biggest joy was attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. He found great pleasure in watching their successes and accomplishments and was always their biggest fan.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sue; children, Patti Patterson, Mark (Kristin) Reimer, Liz (Brad) Wagnitz, Katie (Ted) Umentum; grandchildren, Erica (Allan) Niespodzany, Ben (Meredith) Reimer, Sam Reimer, Joe (Jen) Wagnitz, Tom (Melissa) Wagnitz, Missy Wagnitz, Nolan and Regan Umentum; great grandchildren, Brianna Gossen, Mackenzie and Lilly Niespodzany, Cameron Reimer, Audrey, Allison, and Amelia Wagnitz, Angelina, Veronica, Preston, Parker, and Maverick Wagnitz, Henry Klevesahl; great great grandchild, Leo Gossen; sister, Carol Wolfe; brother, Tom (Linda) Reimer; brothers-in-law, Dave (Laurie) Pamperin, Jeff (Barb) Pamperin; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
