Lawrence J. "Larry" Johnson, 84, lifelong resident of Flintville, died Friday, November 30, 2012 with his family and friends by his side after a long battle with health problems. He was born June 25, 1928 in Flintville to John and Catherine (Wygralak) Johnson. Larry served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. On June 26, 1954 he married Mary Ann De Caster at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay. He was employed at Green Bay packaging and retired in 1990 as a parts manager after 44 years.

In Larry's younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling with his brothers and friends and going to his cottage at Crooked Lake. He enjoyed his travels throughout Wisconsin and Colorado in his motor home. Larry loved being in nature where he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was thankful for the time he spent with his friend, Jerry, at all their special fishing holes. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Lac du Flambeau and recently enjoyed having a permanent site there. Larry had a love for all animals especially the family cat, Callie, and his dogs, Shep and Lassie. Larry was an avid Packers fan. He was a lifelong member of SS. Edward and Isidore Parish.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; three children and their spouses, Cathy and Carl Buell, Franktown, CO; Steve and Mary Johnson, Sobieski; Julie and Bob White, Suamico; six grandchildren, Shawn (Courtney) Buell, Courtney (John) Brekke, Melissa (Ben) Wass, Megan White, Molly White, Mallory White; five great-grandchildren, Kallista, Brandon, Janice, Jack, Gabe and one on the way; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Bob and Shirley Johnson, Elly Johnson; several grand puppies; many nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his self "adoptive" parents, Don and Marie Janquart; five brothers, Henry (Clara) Johnson, Bill (Verna) Johnson, Pete Johnson, Ray (Doris) Johnson, Joe (Zita) Johnson; three sisters, Julia (Edwin) Gabryszek, Carrie (Jim) Hueser, Liz (Armond) Rothe; a sister-in-law, Lorraine (Ed) Stankevitz.

Friends may call at SS. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church 3667 Flintville Rd., Flintville, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. The visitation will continue at church from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. David J. Hoffman officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow mass in SS. Edward and Isidore Cemetery. Larry's family is truly thankful for everyone that visited and helped them in the last months, especially to Jim Taylor for helping with all the yard work and much more, Scott Meyers for all the countless hours of help and friendship he provided to Larry and his family and to John and Vicky Johnson for all their time and love. Thank you to the staffs of Grancare Nursing Center and Gardens, especially to his little angel, Tiffany, and to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staffs at Bellin Hospital and the 3rd floor at St. Mary's Hospital for their exceptional care of Larry and his family.
