Laura Mae Hawpetoss-Brzezinski, "Waubenaqua," age 91 of Keshena, started her journey to the Spirit World Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Laura Mae was born December 26, 1933, in Keshena, the oldest daughter of the late Mayahwakasick "Duffy" and Catherine (Wychesit) Hawpetoss.

Laura met Richard D. "Breezy" Brzezinski in Manitowoc and they were married November 13, 1954. They raised their family while living in Two Rivers, Milwaukee, and Green Bay. Laura felt great pride in providing and caring for her kids. Her home was always welcoming to everyone.  She faithfully attended her children's sporting events and concerts.  Her TV was always on a sports channel.

Laura was a very creative and crafty lady.  She enjoyed decorating for the holidays.  She loved making Christmas goodies, fudge, and candy care packages to share with others. Laura was an avid crocheter, having made over 500 afghans during her life, which she proudly shared with family and friends.  She also made baby booties, baby blankets and strap-strip quilts. Laura had a strong personality and was quite the "mother bear".

Laura is survived by her children: Patricia Hawpetoss Brzezinski, Keshena; Ardene M. Summers (Stormy), Green Bay; Richard (Breezy) (Norma "Tober") Brzezinski, Oneida; Bryan (Jane) Brzezinski, Green Bay.

She is further survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kotanee (Dave) Burt, (Danielle, Katlyn, Jordan, Kody) Morgan Mae (Brian) Oakland, (Juliet, Adessa, Arabella, Nation, Pierce, Rosalind & Atticus Bighorn), Eric Summers, Breanna Brzezinski-Hintz (Karsten), Amber (Todd) VandenHeuvel (Chaselyn, Roman, Keldon, Kennedi, Reese) Logan (Alison) Thomas, Beau (Holly and Luca), and Audrey Thomas (Andy Schroepfer).

Laura was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Brzezinski; brothers and sisters, John T. (Penny) Hawpetoss, Eugene C. (Barbara Lyons) Hawpetoss, Charlene "Muggs" (Huston) Wheelock, Louis J. Hawpetoss, Mary "Toddy" Hawpetoss, Henry A. "Moose" (Gwen) Hawpetoss, and twins Neil J. (Ricki) Hawpetoss and Nell Lee Hawpetoss-Tiedemann.

Per Laura's request, funeral services will be private; however, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at The Courtyard at Bellevue and St. Croix Hospice, especially Traci B. and Krystal C.  Their loving and compassionate care for Laura and the family will always be remembered.
