Larry D. Chaplin, 67, of the Green Bay area died Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born December 16, 1948, in Iowa Falls, IA to William and Greta (Ites) Chaplin.

Larry grew up on his family farm in Iowa and pushed upwards from his humble beginnings. He met Su West, the love of his life, when he was 17 and on September 3, 1967 he got to marry her. It was a true love story. Larry was a graduate of Northern Iowa University, Class of 1971, where he earned a BA in Economics. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971 with the 101st Airborne Division and was stationed in Germany for three years. Larry retired from the U.S. Army in 1978 with the rank of Captain and started his career with Schneider Transport. After 15 years, he became Vice President/General Manager of Schneider Specialized. He went on to become the Vice President of Operations with Schneider Logistics until his retirement in 1998. In 1999, Larry founded IOgistics and served as President and COO until 2006 when he became President of Master Fleet.

Larry was active in his community. Personally he served in various roles with the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and TEC Group. Through Master Fleet, Larry was a member of the ATA, TMC and a presenter at the TMW Conference. He was a supporter of the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce's Ethics in Business, participated in the Green and Gold Gala benefitting AFCS, worked with Hand of Hope and was the recipient of the 2015 Excellence in Business Award. The community most dear to him was the community of people that worked with and for him. In that community he was a dear friend, a mentor, a motivator, a listener, a mediator, a visionary and someone who always believed people were capable of more than they realized.

Spend any amount of time with him and you knew him as the best story teller. He didn't know how to sit still. Larry would do anything for friends and family, and he was the most organized man but still able to be spontaneous and chaotic. Larry loved to travel and looked forward to yearly trips with each of his children making sure it was an adventure. He and Su made a home in Florida three years ago and were blessed to spend their summers in Townsend, WI. Larry was quite content spending the day in his Under Armour shirt and sipping on Starbucks. He did enjoy fishing and hunting (but everyone knew he was just playing Candy Crush). Larry had an intense love of his family and adored his 10 grandchildren whom he cared for deeply.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Su (West) Chaplin; three children and their spouses, Wendy and Michael Dowd, Amy Chaplin Hickenlooper, Jason and Heather (Stedl) Chaplin; ten grandchildren, Keenan, Lindsay and Natalie Dowd; Charlie, Jackson, William, and Henry Hickenlooper; Gracie, Hunter, and Alleda Chaplin; a brother and two sisters and their spouses; Grace Chaplin, Pat and Dallas Diemer, William and Judy Chaplin. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Wilma West; three sisters-in-law, Gayle West, Patricia Rea, Kay Harlan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Greta Chaplin; and his father-in-law James Loren West.
