Kathleen "Kathy" Ann (Conrad) Herwaldt, 75, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 28, 1950, in Geneva, IL to John and Ruth Marie (Blaney) Conrad.
Kathy attended St. Francis High School in Wheaton, IL. She met the love of her life, Paul, and they had a beautiful wedding on June 24, 1973, in Winfield, IL. The couple relocated as close to Door County, WI as possible (Seymour) to raise their family resulting in many trips along Hwy 54 to take her children to school in Green Bay. Kathy later worked for Humana until her retirement in 2015, where she was picked up in limousine and driven home in style.
Kathy was a fabulous mother and grandmother. She was proud of her two children, Kelly and Eric, and enjoyed spending her time with grandkids; for example, picking up Jack from school, watching Evan and Laurel in their music and dance recitals, and spending time with friendly "Mr. Will." In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, taking trips to Door County, and learning about her Irish heritage. We would be remiss if we left out her love of the Beatles and gift for storytelling (she especially loved to tell stories about her experiences at Beatle concerts). She was ultimately known by those close to her for being warm, kind, and funny.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; children, Kelly (Anthony) Ropson, Eric Herwaldt; grandchildren, Jack, Evan, William, Laurel; sister, Shelia (Lawrence) Gedvilas; siblings -in -law, Debra Herwaldt, Greg (Mary) Herwaldt, Rick Herwaldt, Doug (Mary) Herwaldt, Cathy (Tony) Bogolin, Jan Herwaldt; good friend Mary Jo Pikul.
Kathy was preceded by brother-in-law, Mark Herwaldt.
The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to Unity for their compassionate care, and to the many family and friends that have visited and comforted her these last few months.
Kathy would appreciate those who feel led to donate to visit Tunnels to Towers, https://t2t.org, one of her favorite charities.
