Kathleen "Kathy" Christine Vannieuwenhoven, Lena, 76, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was born in Sturgeon Bay on December 13, 1947 to Norman and Frances (Fairchild) Gasper.
On September 12, 1969, Kathy married Richard Vannieuwenhoven in Green Bay. She was a longtime member of St. Willebrords because she enjoyed their sense of community. Kathy raised her children as a Catholic family. She enjoyed taking her family camping and spending time up north in Crivitz. During weekends of her retirement, she would spend time at the quilter shop sewing. Kathy was an avid reader and seamstress/quilter. She loved to sew but most of all she loved her family. Kathy was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Amy McDougal, Kelly (Dan) Temple, Richard Vannieuwenhoven; her grandchildren, Mikayla Rose Vannieuwenhoven, Joshua Richard (Faith Gunderson) Temple, Elizabeth (Drew) Grove, Danielle (David) Willis; five great-grandchildren, Damien, Dominic, Daelynn, Olivia, David; her sister, Eileen (John) Wery; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; sister, Corrine Stahl.
Visitation will be held at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Sunday, March 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to, www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to her son, Richard, for being mom's caretaker for the last two years. A thank you to St. Vincent, St. Claire, Meadowbrook Nursing Home, and Unity Hospice for all their care and compassion given to our mom. You are all angels for the work you do.
