Karl T. Van Roy, 83, of the Town of Rockland, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.  He was born December 1, 1938, in Green Bay to Peter and Clara (Ullmer) Van Roy.

Karl was a graduate of St. John the Baptist grade school, Premontre High School, and St. Norbert College.  After college, Karl honorably served in the US Army.  As a young man, Karl started working in restaurants which influenced his love of the restaurant world.  He was proud of owning and operating River's Bend Supper Club for 24 years.  During this time, he enjoyed spending his working hours with his family and many friends. Karl was a longtime member of the Wisconsin and Green Bay Chapter Restaurant Association of which he was a past president of both.

After retiring, Karl served as a Wisconsin State Representative from 2002 to 2012.  He was grateful for the opportunity to serve and volunteer in his community.

Karl was a member of the Howard-Suamico Optimist Club for 48 years, serving as a past President.

His various accomplishments are too many to mention.

Karl was a kind, generous and honorable person.  He enjoyed spending time with and traveling with Sharon.  He was always willing to learn something new and was an avid reader.  His mischievous nature that always brought laughter will be greatly missed.

Karl is survived by his longtime sweetie, Sharon Humblet.  Her children: Julie and her son Ace, and Rob and his daughters Kenzie and Kayla.  Stepchildren: Jim (Vicki) McDonough, Tom (Jan) McDonough, Jerry (Debbie) McDonough, Marlene McDonough, Kathy (Todd) Green, and Julie McDonough; step-grandchildren: Nick, Ryan, Mariah, Alayna, Rick, Rob, Steve, Amanda, Austin, Roy, Boden, and Greta.  His children: Kurt (Mary), Chris (Jane), Kim (Garry) and Claire; and grandchildren: Alexandra, Jake, Will and Holly.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter, and Clara; infant son, Eric; stepson, Marty; wife of 35 years, Delores "Dolly" Van Roy; brothers, Howard, and Richard; sister, Jeanette.

Although Karl's wishes were for a private funeral, this is as private as the family can have.  Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln and Glendale Ave.), from 10 a.m. to Noon Tuesday, May 17.  An Optimist Service will begin at 11:50 a.m. and the Memorial Mass will be at Noon Tuesday at church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .

Karl's family would be grateful if you chose to direct any memorial contributions to the Howard-Suamico Optimist Foundation.
