Judith "Judy" R. (Allen) Ullmer, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 with family by her side. She was born August 17, 1936 to Norbert and Agnes Allen in Green Bay WI. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. On August 10, 1957 she married Jerome R. Ullmer at St. Willebrord Catholic Church. They were married for 64 years, raising five children and cherishing eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition, Judy and Jerry helped raise and care for her younger siblings after the passing of their mother Agnes.
Judy started her working career as a secretary for a group of attorneys then left to raise her family. Later she worked for American Foundation in Green Bay from where she retired multiple times. As a faith-filled Christian, Judy taught religious education and confirmation classes and coordinated the RCIA program at St. John the Baptist for many years. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and her kind clear guidance was felt by many over the years.
Judy's life was dedicated to her Catholic faith, her family and extended family. She was the ultimate caregiver and set a wonderful example of love and compassion for all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed traveling the world with her sisters, stepmother Beverly and friends. She had a passion for learning and reading. Judy was known for her masterful cooking skills and showed her love by preparing a bounty for any size gathering at a moment's notice. Judy always said she loved the sound of the lawnmower while Jerry cut the grass because then she knew where he was. One of the things she loved most about him was his ability find humor in everything. She enjoyed gardening, watching the Brewers, and hosting many family reunions and get-togethers which was no small feat as there are many of us! Judy was happiest with a baby or two in her arms and looked forward to each new member of the family.
Survivors include her husband Jerry, five children, Larry (Kay) Ullmer, Beth (Brad) Zellner, Ellen (Al) Klimek, Claire (Brad) Reinke and Tom Ullmer. Grandchildren Karie, Ashley, Katie, Sarah, Sam, Erin, Steve, Joe, Carly, Julia, and Nick. Great-grandchildren Bella, Kylie, Lily, Brynn, Liam, Kolton, Ava, and Bennett. Siblings Tom (Jan), Jane (Bob), Judy Ann (Jerry), Mary (Javier), Lutie (Mark), Mark (Judy), Terese (Jim), Susie (Bruce), John (Johanna), sister-in-law Billie, and brother-in-law John Proko. Many nieces and nephews and special friends, including childhood friend, Nancy Steffen, neighbors and all her friends from the American Foundation and St. John the Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Mary Lea, daughter-in-law Kelly (Tom) Ullmer, parents Norbert and Agnes Allen, stepmother Beverly Allen, brother Paul Allen, parents-in-law Lawrence and Lucille Ullmer, brother- and sister-in-law Robert and Evie Ullmer, and sister-in-law Maggie (John) Proko.
Visitation will be Friday August 6 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave, Howard WI, from 10:00am to noon. Mass of Christian burial will be at noon with Rev Bill Swichtenberg officiating. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
