Joyce Margaret Wirtz (née Euclide), who passed away peacefully Friday, September 5, 2025, at the remarkable age of 92 years. Joyce's departure marks the end of a chapter graced by extraordinary warmth, wisdom, and the enduring imprint of a woman who changed the lives of all who knew her.
Born on February 11, 1933, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Joyce was the cherished daughter of John and Ethel (Gatske) Euclide.
A graduate of Green Bay West High School, she married Robert Anthony Wirtz on December 27, 1952, at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. Their union became the foundation of a vibrant and loving family. Together, Bob and Joyce raised seven children: Craig Steven (Joy), Lynn Ann, Brad Robert (Sondra), Grant Clement (Karen), Blair David (Lori), Brian John, and Steven Robert Wirtz. Joyce's devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, from nurturing the growth and happiness of her children to inspiring them with the values of kindness, fairness, and integrity. Though she faced profound loss with the passing of her beloved husband Bob on April 15, 1982, and her son Steven on January 31, 1988, Joyce's resilience and courage became a beacon for her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by six children, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her legacy is cherished by those who carry her memory forward: Brian Jon Wirtz, Erin Stillman & Zach Ebeling, Andrew & Maureen (Davis) Wirtz, Brandon Wirtz & Lisa Van Damm-Bates, Curtis Wirtz & Margeurite Burnette, Jacob Wirtz & Chrissy (Mulder) Wirtz, Jessica Wirtz (Daniels) & (Joey) Daniels, Robert Colton Wirtz & Hannah Trichon, and Carter Wirtz. Among her great-grandchildren are Michael Andre' Long, Mya & Julian Daniels, Serena Wirtz, Heather Ika, and Gus Burnette, each a new chapter in a story Joyce helped begin.
After the loss of her husband, Joyce embarked on a new journey, building a career at Beaumont Clinic Pharmacy for many years. Her diligence and approachability made her a beloved member of the workplace, where she formed close connections with both colleagues and clients. But Joyce's true artistry shone through her master seamstress skills, which she applied with passion and precision to delight and adorn the homes of countless clients, friends, and family. Her expertise in crafting custom draperies, quilts, upholstery, pillows, and textiles became the hallmark of a thriving drapery business that she ran for years. Joyce enjoyed a wide variety of music from the timeless beauty of classical compositions to the energetic rhythms of the Beatles, and the soulfulness of Willie Nelson. Music filled her home, infusing it with joy, reflection, and energy. Joyce was a talented cook and baker whose chocolate chip cookies and various recipes brought comfort and joy to her family during holidays and gatherings throughout the year. An avid and skilled gardener, Joyce's yard became the envy of the neighborhood-a sanctuary of peace and color. Flowers, vegetables, and lush greenery flourished under her care, offering joy and serenity to family, friends, and passersby.
Her love of animals was evident in her companionship with many dogs (most recent, Precious -who stayed by her side until the end), rabbits, and chickens raised in her own backyard. Joyce's affection for her pets reflected her nurturing spirit and capacity for joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life.
Joyce was, in every sense, a vibrant and energetic force-full of life, understanding, and open-hearted kindness. She encountered and overcame personal tragedies with steadfast courage, always leaning on the love and support of her family and friends. Through every challenge, Joyce remained present for those she loved, sharing wisdom, humor, and unwavering strength.
Her siblings, the late Bob (Mary) Euclide, Marie (Norbert) Mostek, Jeanette (Francis) Gingle, Carole (Jim) Quimby, and Nancy (Oscar) Pettis-formed a circle of familial bonds that endured through time. These relationships were marked by laughter and shared memories.
Joyce was a beloved neighbor and friend, always ready to lend a hand, share her wisdom, or brighten someone's day with her baking, cooking, wit and clever ideas. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful friends, neighbors, and extended family who were so helpful to Joyce over the years. Among those appreciated are Larry & Barb Peeters, Ethel Dufek, Kim Kronenberg, Ken & Brenda Severs, William Moore, Margene & Darrell Marcantonio, Jan & Charlie Katers, Carol & Steve Heller, Judy & Jerald Geurts, Lynn Meyers, Kimberly Straub, Harlem Paige, all the Wirtz and Euclide nieces and nephews, and countless others whose lives Joyce touched.
Private family service will be held at Joyce's request.
