Joseph L. Donovan, 94, Ashwaubenon, died peacefully Friday October 24, 2014. He was born February 22, 1920 in Illinois and grew up in Phillips, Wisconsin. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Being a proud veteran, Joe was able to go on an "Old Glory" honor flight to Washington D.C. in 2011. After returning from service, Joe began his 45 year career at Green Bay Packaging. He retired in 1990. On July 27, 1963, Joe was united in marriage to Dolores Lambert in Green Bay. Joe was a longtime member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Ashwaubenon. He enjoyed working in his yard and cutting the lawn. Joe also liked to travel with his wife and his sister-in-law, Bernice Lambert.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dolores; a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen Donovan-Strauss and her husband Daniel Strauss, Waterford, WI; three grandchildren, Maggie, Danielle and her fiancé, Scot, all of Port Washington, WI., Alex, now serving his country in Afghanistan; two nieces and a nephew and their spouses, Patty (Mike) Flora, Medford, WI, Judy Treadway, WI, Mike (Amy) Donovan, Texas; other relatives and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Donovan.
Friends may call in the chapel at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum, 2121 Riverside Drive, from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Veterans Honors will follow the funeral. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
